Seattle-April 10, 2020 – NWBakeryBox.com announced today the launch of a web-based subscription box service featuring beloved local independent artisan bakers, coffee roasters and makers in the Seattle area. In the world of working from home and social distancing, their idea is to bring the café to you.

NW Bakery Box is the latest endeavor from local wholesale distribution network, Ahab Shipping. They have been the “behind the scenes” distributors for many of the local bakery and food items you see every morning in hundreds of cafés and grocery stores around Seattle.

“Supporting local business and their customers is what drives us at Ahab Shipping. With the challenges facing our community today it is imperative that we ensure the sustainability of our local small businesses. As we were watching all our customers close shop and our partner bakeries laying staff off we knew we needed to get outside our comfort zone and try something new. We had to get out from behind the scenes and out delivering direct to peoples homes.”

“In addition to providing all the baked goods our network has been known for we are reversing the business flow. NW Bakery Box will offer fresh roasted coffee and teas from the companies we traditionally supported with baked goods. This is one way we can help our café roaster customers.” Sam Greene, CEO said.

NW Bakery Box allows you to build a custom order with all your favorite bakery staples and treats, fresh roasted coffee beans and local beverage options, delivered to your front door at a fair price. Offering the convenience of home delivery and one time or weekly customized order, customers will have access to the same products they have come to love and depend on at their local café, coffee shop or grocery store.

The service will launch initially with popular area producers including Little Rae’s Bakery, Caffe Vita, Flying Apron, Essential Baking, La Toscanella, Nuflours, Seattle Bagel, Mighty O Donuts, Wild Wheat, Blazing Bagels, Middlefork Roasters, Morning Glory Chai, Boon Boona and more. They expect to add more producers as they move forward. Customers will get fresh delivery of a customized box of baked goods they love, including standard pantry items like breads and decadent treats, as well as allergen-friendly, raw and plant-based options.

With a broad distribution network and long-time community relationships, NW Bakery Box will fill a much-needed hole in weekly home delivery options as shopping habits change.  The site launched on April 10th and brings unmatched flexibility and complements the on-demand services currently available.

As a food delivery company, we want to assure you that our team as well as our makers and baker’s teams are taking all the recommended precautions above and beyond our everyday high operating standards to minimize our exposure. This includes following the Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) regulations that allow us to package and deliver food safely, including regular sanitation, hand washing, and restricting sick people from reporting to work.

Our delivery drivers are taking additional steps to stay safe and to protect you and your family as well. These include:

  • Wearing gloves when handling packages
  • Cleaning the inside of the vehicle often with alcohol wipes
  • Utilizing frequent hand sanitizing
  • Respecting and adhering to the 6 foot social distancing rule
  • Avoiding personal contact with customers as much as possible
  • Deliveries are completed using a “Knock and Drop” process in which they knock or ring the doorbell to alert you that your delivery has arrived and then leave your order on your porch.
